New Mexico’s Public Regulation Commission regulates our public utilities and we all rely on the Commission to set fair and reasonable utility rates. Yet New Mexico is one of just 11 states that has politicians oversee utilities instead of professional experts.
A bipartisan constitutional amendment is on the ballot to put professionally-qualified experts, not politicians, on the Commission, who will be prohibited from having any personal financial interest in any of the industries they regulate.
